Soda Bread

Ingredient2 loaves

  • Flour, wholemeal – 250g
  • Flour (strong) – 250g
  • Bicarbonate of soda – 1tsp
  • Salt – 1tsp
  • Buttermilk – 200g
  • Water, warm – 60 ml
  • Butter, melted – 25g

Procedure

  1. Sift the flours, salt and bicarbonate of soda into a bowl
  2. Make a well and add the buttermilk, warm water and melted butter
  3. Work the dough for about 5 minutes
  4. Mould into 2 round loaves and mark the top
  5. Bake at 200 degrees celsius for about 25 minutes. When the bread is ready, It should make a hollow sound when tapped
